ISBN Barcodes for Books

Book barcodes are made from the ISBN number assigned to your book.

Do you have the ISBN number already?

Yes – If you have an ISBN number for your book, you can purchase the barcode images for your number below.

No – If you don’t have an ISBN number yet, you first need to get an ISBN number from the Australian ISBN Agency. After they allocate the ISBN number, please come back here & purchase the ISBN barcode.

Note: Crossword books and colouring-in books do not use ISBNs. They use standard retail barcodes (EAN-13 barcodes), which you can order here.

Here are some common questions:

An ISBN is a 13-digit unique identification number assigned to books and other print, electronic, or multimedia publications. These are for printed books and pamphlets containing more than four pages of text, maps, e-books, pdfs, Braille publications and audiobooks.
Each country has its own designated organisation that controls the distribution of ISBNs. Click here to see the organisation for Australia here.
You will need a different barcode number and image for each separate publication. This includes different formats of the same book. For example, if you were publishing a paperback and an eBook, you would need 2 ISBNs.
